Initially inspired by Alex’s records, Sheila designed the cards to mimic popular music formats.
Save the date
We designed the save the date to set the tone of the wedding: It wasn’t going to be traditional and it was going to incorporate a lot of our favorite things.
M: Beignets | A: Liberty Bell (Alex is from Philly) | R: Ollie (our puppy) | C: Alex’s piano | H: Topo Chico (favorite sparkling water)
2: Alex’s Big Green Egg grill | 8: Mardi Gras beads
2: Sweet Magnolia (title of a song Alex wrote) | 0: Halo Halo (Filipino dessert with shaved ice and various jellies) | 2: Shady Oak Trees (a lyric in a song Alex wrote) | 0: Robert Ellis record (Texas musician)
Invitation 1 - The Record
Alex has hundreds of records! So Sheila thought it would be fun to create an “album” for the wedding invitation suite. We hand-painted each record and Alex drew the symbols on the map that Sheila designed.
Invitation 2 - The mixTape
After we pushed the wedding out by more than a year, we knew we had to send another invitation. Sheila wanted to continue the music theme, so the natural progression meant a mixtape! She designed it so that you can actually take out the mixtape and the inside looks like the back of a regular tape where the songs are listed.
Thank You Card - The CD
Did you really think the second invitation was the last GPPW card you’d get? Of course not! So to close out the music theme, the thank you card was inspired by the most iconic CD: Now That’s What I Call Music!
Sheila came up with our 10 Top Hits:
Two-Steppin and Boot-Scootin’ | All Of The Austin Lights! | Crawfish in September | Of Course It’s Hot - It’s Texas! | Her Pearls, His Croquet Set | Filipino Flubs and Vulnerable Vows | You And I And Not Enough Pies | Cash Tails On The Dance Floor | Coffee News With Beign-yays | Big Brunch Before You Go-Go
Since Sheila obviously didn’t have enough on her plate, she coordinated a few SURPRISES FOR ALEX >
