texas bbq

Alex has traveled all over Texas for BBQ and these are our favorites in town. Anticipate a wait, savor every bite, and don’t forget dessert. Make sure you factor in time for a nap!

Many BBQ joints have unusual hours, so we’ve noted them below.

Franklin’s

Without a doubt the finest BBQ in the land. Alex has tried them all. If you want to eat here make sure to plan ahead and expect to wait 3-4 hours. Be in line by 9:30 AM with a lawn chair and a six-pack ready to make friends. Everything is excellent. Worthy of the hype!

If you’re there when you should be, which is early, parking shouldn’t be too bad. They’re open from 11 AM - 3 PM and closed on Mondays.

LA BBQ is a very close 2nd to Franklin’s. If you get here between 10 AM - 11 AM, you can expect a wait of about an 1 hour. You really can’t go wrong here but the pork ribs and sausage are primo.

It’s within a Quickie Pickie store. Some parking is available, but your best bet may be street parking. They are open Wednesday - Sunday from 11 AM - 6 PM, but get there early for the best selection.

Valentina’s

A bit of out the way, but amazing BBQ. They do “Tex-Mex” BBQ fusion and source their meat from Hartley Ranch (a very special place indeed, but not a relative). Pro-tip: Arrive early for breakfast to try the “Real Deal Holyfield” Taco. It’s a breakfast taco with sliced brisket and bacon on a made-to-order flour tortilla.

Parking is available. They’re open from 7:30 AM - 9:00 PM and closed on Tuesdays.

Great BBQ with unique, tasty sides and fresh homemade bread. Definitely go for a plate lunch to try all the sides. Sometimes we’ve waited a few minutes and other times we’ve waited an hour, but it’s always worth it!

They have a couple of parking spots. They’re open from 11 AM - 6 PM Tuesday - Saturday and 11 AM - 3 PM on Sunday. They’re closed on Mondays.
